Wednesday, 18 May 2005

MapInfo Corporation has announced that Bluecom Group Ltd, a UK bespoke solutions provider to companies with mobile workforces and a subsidiary of Citylink Group Ltd, has selected its technology to underpin the development of SmartACCESS, a new web-enabled vehicle tracking and telematics solution. Available via the portal www.blue-com.co.uk, under a subscription service, SmartACCESS will allow Bluecom's clients, in the transport, field service, public sector, construction and waste management industries, to track fleet vehicles, provide drivers with routing and scheduling information, data communications that can be integrated into a client's back office and a plethora of historical reports and real-time alerts such as whether or not a vehicle will arrive at a required destination within the prescribed SLA or the number of hours a vehicle has been on the road. The solution uses a combination of MapInfo MapXtreme 2004 a .NET development environment providing core mapping and location intelligence functionality, together with MapInfo's routing engine MapInfo Routing J Server, and MapInfo StreetPro, a high quality and accurate street level dataset for the UK. This has enabled Bluecom to develop a cost-effective, web-enabled application, which can be offered to clients either via a wireless Application Service Provider (ASP) model or as an application that clients can host in a web-based environment
