Saturday, 23 July 2005

CoreMedia, the provider of trusted digital rights management (DRM), is the first company worldwide to combine the mobile OMA DRM standard with Microsoft DRM as a secure client implementation. CoreMedia now supports the interoperability of the two most common DRM standards with its Multi-DRM technology for enhanced interoperability between handsets and PCs. In addition CoreMedia delivers a plug-in for the Windows Media Player enabling PC playback of OMA-protected music purchased via mobile handsets. More media player software will be supported in the future. That means that, for the first time, consumers can transfer music purchased for their mobile phone directly to the PC without additional downloading. Just recently, CoreMedia has tested successfully in the first comprehensive OMA Test Fest for DRM 2.0 implementations for handsets, consumer electronics, PCs, and Servers. The OMA DRM 2.0 standard allows operators and content providers to use new distribution models such as Superdistribution to explore the opportunities of viral marketing. In addition OMA DRM 2.0 facilitates the converging mobile and PC markets.
