According to statistics from State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China,  in the first half of 2005, Huawei Technologies’ patent applications reached 1,231, again ranking Huawei as the company with the highest patent applications in China.  Until now, Huawei’s total patent applications reached 8,000 including 800 patents applied for in over 20 countries and regions such as the U.S. and Europe. In recent years, Huawei has devoted more than RMB 4bn to research and development every year. Huawei’s domestic patent applications in 2005 will amount to 3,000 while the number for international applications will reach 500.  The average number of daily applications is expected to reach ten.
