Siemens expands Ivory Coast network |

26 July, 2004: The largest mobile operator in Ivory Coast, Loteny Telecom, has commissioned Siemens to expand its GSM network. Siemens mobile is to supply and install all the required infrastructure components to increase the network capacity from around 500,000 subscribers at present to 1.2 million by February 2005. The order is worth over €20mn.
The order involves Siemens supplying and installing new GSM base stations and switching technology. With over 500,000 customers at present, making a market share of 52%, Loteny Telecom is the largest mobile provider in Ivory Coast. Siemens has been Loteny's main supplier of GSM technology since the company started up in 1996.
