Motorola has announced a new reseller agreement between Motorola and Sandvine Incorporated for the latter’s PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) application manager. The Motorola PCMM solution enables Quality of Service (QoS) for the rollout of advanced, revenue-generating IP services. Sandvine's application manager plays a significant role in ensuring QoS by improving network control to give operators the ability to identify, analyze, mark and prioritize broadband traffic. Working together, Motorola and Sandvine offer operators the ability to upgrade the consumer broadband experience and branch into new services such as gaming, tiered data services and video telephony. Components of the Motorola PCMM solution include the Motorola Broadband Services Router 64000 (BSR 64000) - the first Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) to receive PCMM Qualification within DOCSIS 2.0 from CableLabs - Motorola's system integration services, and Sandvine's PCMM application manager. Through the non-exclusive reseller agreement with Sandvine, Motorola has become the only provider currently qualified to deliver both infrastructure equipment and system management applications based on the latest CableLabs standards applicable to PCMM.
