PacketFront has announced that its customer Affärsverken, the company behind the Swedish city of Karlskrona's Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), has been awarded the Swedish 'MAN of the year' award. Affärsverken is one of the first providers in the world to offer triple play customers self-registering services. Affärsverken's MAN is available to all residents of Karlskrona and is delivered by PacketFront's fully automated broadband solution, which allows companies to use flexible business models such as open access networks, where a variety of services are available from multiple content providers over the same physical infrastructure. At the heart of PacketFront's solution is BECS control and provisioning system. BECS enables Affärsverken to run its fully automated MAN with self-registering on-demand services. These capabilities give users the option to choose services from a number of competing service providers without having to wait for a third party to make the changes.
