Monday, 17 April 2006

RFI Global Services Ltd recently hosted a delegation of visitors from South Korea that included the Governor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government of Korea at its headquarters in Basingstoke. The purpose of the visit was for the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) detailing the strategic investment being made by RFI in the region over the next 3 years. The MOU also outlines the levels of support from the Korean Government in this venture. RFI is establishing a facility, located in Gunpo City, Gyeonggi Province, with an investment of up to US$10mn over the next 3 years. RFI is the first company to make this level of investment in the region and is the only European company providing these services and entering into this kind of agreement. Under the agreement RFI-Global will recruit locally wherever possible and cooperate with small and medium-sized companies located in Gyeonggi Province. In return the Gyeonggi Province will provide help and support for infrastructure, provision of land and facilities and consultation with central government. RFI’s initial investment in the region is of the order of £3.6mn in establishing a state-of-the art cellular test facility. The brand new laboratories will be near major Korean handset manufacturers LG and Samsung with easy access to Seoul. It is scheduled to open in June 2006.
