Hungarian Ethernet agreement for Hatteras Print E-mail
Friday, 09 June 2006

Hatteras Networks has entered into a distribution agreement with Siemens Hungary enabling carriers to extend the value and Ethernet service capabilities of the existing copper network. The relationship has already resulted in a major customer win with Magyar Telekom, quickly enabling the carrier roll out Mid-Band Ethernet services in Hungary. Magyar Telekom recently awarded Siemens and Hatteras Networks the combined solution to roll out Mid-Band Ethernet services within its network. The roll-out will enable Magyar Telekom to extend its current broadband and other business service offerings with a robust 2 - 20Mbits/s symmetrical service over the existing copper network. The Siemens Hungary and Hatteras Networks partnership enables tier-one carrier Magyar Telekom to offer Metro Ethernet services to enterprise customers over the existing copper infrastructure. With the additional service capability, Magyar Telekom intends to leverage its first mover advantage to quickly roll out new Mid-Band Ethernet services nationwide. In addition to the supply and installation of the technology, the contract also covers network maintenance and training of specialist staff at Magyar Telekom.
