Shanghai Simcom, a subsidiary company of SIM technology Group, a leader in mobile handset solution design and wireless communications module development in China, and Kineto Wireless are collaborating on the development of UMA-enabled mobile handsets. Simcom will integrate Kineto Wireless' UMA client software into dual-mode (GSM/EDGE and Wi-Fi) handsets. In addition, Kineto Wireless will provide Simcom with development, testing, and integration tools as part of Kineto's Device Developer Program. The resulting mobile devices will conform to the 3^rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) global UMA standard and provide for seamless mobility between Wi-Fi and GSM networks. Through this collaboration, the companies will deliver high performance, low cost UMA-enabled devices to mobile and integrated fixed/mobile operators worldwide. Simcom's platform supports powerful data processing technology and advanced radio access technologies such as EDGE, TDS-CDMA, and WCDMA which, combined with Wi-Fi and UMA, deliver a very attractive product portfolio for service providers globally.
