A survey published by GSA - the Global mobile Suppliers Association, shows that almost half of HSDPA networks in commercial service today rely on GSM/EDGE in areas where HSDPA coverage is not available, for service continuity and delivery of the best user experience of mobile broadband services. The survey 'HSDPA Operator Commitments - September 22, 2006' confirms there are 121 HSDPA operator deployments worldwide, including 54 networks which also support GSM/EDGE. Twenty-eight out of 59 HSDPA commercial networks have also enabled commercial GSM/EDGE service. A related GSA survey released recently confirmed that there are 47 user devices launched in the market which support HSDPA and GSM/EDGE.
