19 October, 2004: Aloha Partners LP, the largest holder of 700MHz spectrum in the United States, is to launch a market trial of Flarion's FLASH-OFDM technology for mobile broadband IP services. The market launch will commence in the second quarter of 2005 and will take place in one of the top 100 markets in the United States, making it the largest deployment of mobile broadband using 700MHz spectrum in the United States.

"Over 40% of rural homes do not currently have access to broadband internet service. With the use of the 700MHz spectrum and Flarion's technology, Aloha Partners can solve that problem", said Charles Townsend, CEO of Aloha Partners. "Today, there are also over four million public safety and first responders in urban areas who can't access vital information during emergencies. Aloha plans to demonstrate that Flarion's technology and 700MHz spectrum can give public safety the means to protect and serve their communities by providing immediate access to critical information during emergencies and disasters".

The 700MHz band is the most cost effective frequency to provide mobile broadband service in both rural and urban areas. 700MHz delivers superior in-building signal quality and goes 2-4 times further than either PCS or WiFi frequencies. This results in 50-75% less capital to build the same network as PCS, MMDS or WiFi frequencies. Aloha's 700MHz spectrum holdings cover 166 urban and rural markets and more than 60% of the top 40 markets throughout the country.

Aloha will market its services to rural homes without access to wired broadband services and public safety responders who need mobility and wireless access. Aloha Mobile Broadband is well suited for state and local governments, public safety and security agencies. Aloha's customers will be able to take full advantage of FLASH-OFDM's average downlink speeds of up to 1Mbits/s with burst rates of up to 3.2Mbits/s and average uplink rates of 300-500kbits/s with latency as low as 35ms, making the network service competitive with wired DSL and Cable.
