CoreOptics demonstrated first 111Gbps transmission Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 March 2007
CoreOptics  has announced the successful demonstration of the industry’s first 111 Gbps transmission over 2400 kilometres utilizing Coherent Detection technology. This technical trial featured transmission of 10 channels of 111 Gbps at 50 GHz channel spacing over 2400 kilometres of Standard Single Mode Fiber (SSMF). Building on the company’s expertise in the development of distortion equalization technologies, CoreOptics’ Coherent Detection technology sets the market-leading benchmark for performance and cost effectiveness for the next generation of converged 100G networks. The key feature of this technology is enabled by CoreOptics’ proprietary digital signal processing innovations. This technology enables extraction and translation of additional properties of the optical signal into electrical domain, enabling more robust transmission, over longer distances and achieving higher signal quality. The trial was partly supported within the project EIBONE (Efficient Integrated Backbone) from the German Government BMBF (Bundesministerium für Forschung und Bildung).
