PCCW IMS Limited (PCCW), Hong Kong's premier telecommunications company, has chosen Colubris' WLAN equipment to provide Wi-Fi services to commuters in the waiting and boarding areas of
Hong Kong's subway system. Serving more than 2.5 million passengers each weekday,
Hong Kong's subway system, the MTR, is one of the most heavily traveled mass transit systems in the world. To enable MTR patrons to benefit from easy-to-use, uninterrupted, secure Internet access, PCCW has installed Wi-Fi hotspots at selected MTR stations. PCCW will ultimately deploy hundreds of Colubris MultiService Access Points as the network expands to 16 MTR stations by the end of this year. Built to seamlessly integrate with service providers' back-end systems, the components of Colubris' Wi-Fi solution allow PCCW to easily deploy the infrastructure and quickly roll out its new PCCW Wi-Fi and NETVIGATOR Everywhere services.
