Ethernet success for Nortel |

Nortel has announced three new Ethernet contracts which indicates how the company is enabling the creation of a metropolitan broadband optical infrastructure that brings massive bandwidth and unprecedented services to consumers, businesses and public institutions.
Verizon Business will deploy the Nortel Optical Multiservice Edge 6500 (hyperlink) to deliver transport convergence for TDM and packet services in 17 European countries and four countries across
Asia.
RASCOM, a supplier of international capacity for telecommunications operators in
Russia, will deploy Nortel's high capacity optical solution, which will enable the supplier to carry network traffic from
Russia through
Finland and
Sweden by linking the central region of
Russia with Central European countries via
Scandinavia.
Midcontinent, a North American triple play services provider serving more than 200 communities in North and South the Dakota, will extend high bandwidth business video on demand and triple play services to 12 new markets with a single converged network provided by Nortel's ultra-fast 10G optical technology.
