Nokia Siemens Networks has sealed a deal with Chunghwa Telecom , Taiwan ’s largest telecommunications operator, for its Next Generation Network IMS (NGN IMS). This is the first contract award from Chunghwa for its five-year NGN plan. Nokia Siemens Networks’ expertise will help Chunghwa succeed in the Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) market and be the first operator in Asia-Pacific to introduce IMS-based Voice over IP (VoIP). Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver to Chunghwa infrastructure and services as part of its IMS Core solution, and will also provide its consumers and business customers VoIP and fixed softswitching solutions. These will let Chunghwa to be the first operator in Asia-Pacific to introduce IMS-based VoIP services. Deliveries will start in December.

DNA Palvelut Oy, the nationwide Finnish broadband and fixed network operator, today signed a managed services agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks. As part of the agreement, the entire fixed line operations of DNA will be transferred to Nokia Siemens Networks, who will provide a full suite of managed services for optimization, day-to-day operation and maintenance of the network to ensure its future high performance and serviceability. This contract win for delivering services to DNA’s PSTN network (AXE-, DX- and EWSD- technologies) further strengthens Nokia Siemens Networks’ position as the leading managed services supplier in Finland and in the Nordic countries. The agreement will cover over 250,000 subscribers of DNA’s fixed network for an initial period of three years. As part of the agreement, employees of DNA’s fixed line operations will transfer to Nokia Siemens Networks as of January 1, 2008.

Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd and Nokia Siemens Networks have agreed to cooperate on LTE base station products. The companies jointly responded to the request by Japan ’s biggest mobile operator NTT DoCoMo, Inc. for its Super 3G(LTE) Base Station project, and Panasonic Mobile Communications was selected as a supplier.
