16 November, 2004: Teleca and IPWireless are partnering to accelerate the introduction of a range of new UMTS TDD voice and data devices. Teleca will join forces with Sweden 's Wireless System Integration (WSI) to form the TDD Design Center (TDC), a solution center dedicated to the development of new UMTS TDD devices, such as handsets, personal mobile access points, and networked music players. IPWireless has licensed technology to Teleca to enable it to develop and enhance UMTS TDD devices for manufacturing partners.

Teleca's TDC is dedicated to the development of next generation UMTS TDD devices. Leveraging Teleca's software and hardware platforms and development models will enable device manufacturers to introduce new UMTS TDD-enabled devices within a shorter timeframe, with lowered research and development costs and superior service and support.

Teleca will provide all services and support related to UMTS TDD device development, a reference test center, and will facilitate worldwide UMTS TDD business development. The first anticipated devices to go into the TDC include an integrated UMTS TDD/802.11/Bluetooth 'Personal Mobile Access Point,' a slim, battery-powered, pocket size device that allows users to create their own mobile "hotspot" using UMTS TDD as backhaul, as well as a range of voice over IP and broadband gateways.
