Thursday, 20 March 2008
Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that Indonesia’s biggest mobile service provider Telkomsel will be using the company’s location based services (LBS) solution in its mobile network. The new solution enables Telkomsel to extend its value added services through applications such as Advertising, Information Finder and Friend Finder for its 50 million active subscribers throughout Indonesia. Nokia Siemens Networks will integrate its future-proof and cost-effective intelligent Gateway Mobile Location Centre (iGMLC) platform into Telkomsel’s mobile network. The Location Based Services solution is highly flexible and supports both GSM and WCDMA/3G location based services simultaneously, giving Telkomsel the opportunity to provide attractive new services which are based on the locations of its users. Applications such as Information Finder will benefit users when visiting cities they are unfamiliar with. They will be able to access location specific information of important facilities, such as hospitals and police stations. With the robust solution from Nokia Siemens Networks, the operator will be able to deliver various location based services to meet its customers’ demands and gain real business results.
