Wednesday, 15 December 2004

15 December, 2004: Czech Republic mobile operator Oskar Mobil (former Cesky Mobil) has commissioned Siemens Communications to supply an EDGE network. Oskar Mobil expects the availability of new high speed data services for its customers in 2005. This is Siemens' fifth EDGE contract in Central Europe and its fifteenth in the world.

With the introduction of EDGE technology by Siemens, Oskar Mobil is ready to upgrade the existing data network and offer high performance mobile data services up to three times faster than conventional GPRS to their subscribers. Currently, Oskar Mobil is intensively testing several EDGE services to understand the user experience and to ensure the service meets Oskar Mobil’s high standards of performance and user-friendliness.
