IP Wireless wins Swedish order |

15 December, 2004: Swedish network operator ATENIT has signed a deal with twelve municipalities in the region of Kalmar, Sweden, to deploy a wireless broadband access network to give full geographical broadband coverage in the region. The Kalmar region has more than 170,000 inhabitants.
The network will be based on the UMTS TDD standard with technology developed by IPWireless. The subscriber devices offered would initially be plug-and-play Desktop. Modems that use either USB or Ethernet to support PCs and LAN Gateways. The modems use extremely low power, and support downlink speeds of up to 3Mbits/s. Atenit will deploy the network over a period of six months with estimated full coverage in the Kalmar region by July 2005.
