Cable&Wireless and the Vietnam Data Communication Company (VDC) have announced an extension to their partnership with the signing of a comprehensive service agreement to deliver IPVPN services in Vietnam. VDC is a subsidiary of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) that grows managed data and internet business services in Vietnam. The new services agreement enables Cable&Wireless to deliver secure, high-speed global network access together with a range of high-value network products and services to its customers in Vietnam. This agreement builds on the Frame Relay Network-to-Network Interface (FR NNI) partnership Cable&Wireless signed with VDC in 2005. The Vietnamese telecoms market is rapidly expanding, with 21% of its population now online. The International Telecommunication Union recently acknowledged Vietnam as the second fastest-growing telecom market in the world, after China. Cable&Wireless will now offer resilient on-net IP-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) with world-class Quality-of-service (QoS) to VDC's customers in Vietnam. As part of the agreement, Cable&Wireless has upgraded its Point-of-Presence (PoP) network node coverage in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to meet the growing needs of its customer's in this region.
