27 December, 2004: Siemens Communications has been awarded a contract by mobile operator PTML (Pakistan Telecom Mobile Ltd), commercially known as U-Fone, valued at US$32mn to expand its GSM network to provide its service to more customers across a wider geographical area. The new deal between U-Fone, which is a 100% owned independent subsidiary of PTML, and Siemens, enables Pakistan’s second largest mobile operator - with 1.3mn subscribers - to increase its subscriber base by a further 500,000.
