Ericsson 3G success in Eastern Europe |

21 January, 2005: Ericsson has been selected as the main supplier for the first phase of the 3G mobile network of Hungarian operator Pannon GSM. Under the contract, Ericsson will provide the infrastructure of the UMTS-based mobile system. The network will be rolled out to other parts of Hungary in late 2005 and early 2006. Pannon and Ericsson have also signed a contract the modernization of Pannon's GSM EDGE network.
Ericsson has also won a 3G contract from Romanian operator Connex. The network will be the first to offer advanced 3G services to mobile users in the country. Under the agreement, Ericsson will deliver and implement 3G core and radio network equipment as well as system integration and optimisation services, including multi-vendor integration. Ericsson will also provide competence development and technical support services for the supplied solutions.
