Siemens wins IMS deal from UK operator Print E-mail
Thursday, 03 February 2005

03 February, 2005: UK mobile network operator mmO2 has commissioned Siemens Communications to supply its mobile network with a commercial IMS (IP-based Multimedia Subsystem) solution. IMS is a 3GPP standardised platform that makes it easier for carriers to integrate multimedia services in mobile and fixed networks regardless of the access technologies. The frame contract foresees Siemens Communications to install several IMS network elements and services in mmO2’s networks. The operator expects the commercial availability of first multimedia services based on IMS to be Push-and-Talk, chat, instant and multimedia messaging.
