The SAS Group, an international provider of IP-based network and managed communication services, has announced that it will work with BT on a £300,000 deal to implement a global video conferencing solution and WAN upgrade for environmental consultancy, RPS. The company will also provide managed services for RPS’s 105 site estate. RPS has been a customer of the SAS Group’s since 2007, when it first commissioned the company to design and implement a managed MPLS WAN solution for 47 sites in the UK. Since then, RPS has experienced an explosion of growth in Europe, North America and beyond, and its most recent acquisition, in Australia, has now become the driver for a major new video conferencing and WAN infrastructure project. In the first stage of the project, the SAS Group will rollout BT’s IP Clear Reach network with class of service applied for three sites in the UK and Australia. It will also provision Cisco routers and switches to terminate the network and the SAS Group’s network engineering team will configure and connect all equipment. Once this is complete, Tandburg will install 65 inch profile screens at each location and install Codian bridges at RPS’s Australian data centre and its Abingdon headquarters in the UK. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2010, following delivery of international circuits, and if it all goes to plan, RPS hopes to rollout the solution to its North American sites soon after.
